Introduce a telegram station job:
Telegrams could be dictated and sent (maybe even in morse code text) by the telegram worker. This is automatically sent to the receiving telegram station for a person on the other end to translate and deliver to the recipient’s telegram box. This allows for corruption within the telegram system and perhaps telegrams could even be intercepted by criminals if they figure out how.
As a telegram worker youd be able to view which stations have staff available and if no one is clocked in, the telegram could just be sent to the recipient directly.
When no one is clocked in on either end, the telegram system works as it does now - but the price would still be $1.00.
Telegrams would cost $1.00 to send but they are sent and can be received automatically very quickly.
Introduce a letter / parcel feature. Letters are free to send. They are sealed but can be tampered with. You write the letter and drop it off at the telegram station. This should be tagged with the recipient’s name and the collection telegram station. Parcels are paid for by weight. Boxes can be shipped and sent too. These also get tagged. Delivery workers collect post from one telegram station and deliver to the respective stations. Trains can also deliver mail.
The telegram role would be paid an hourly rate. Delivery jobs would be paid per successful delivery e.g. $5.00 per parcel and $2.00 per letter or whatever.
The stations could also sell writing paper, empty books, envelopes, boxes, parcels etc.
Any parcels/letters that are still in the delivery pile at the telegram station after 48 hours will then be automatically delivered to the correct station so that the system isn’t totally dependant on people being clocked in.
