Property/business seizure

Change the property/business seizure using OOC information to seize stuff IC.
Instead reach out to people OOC in a ticket instead of sending a telegram IC (which they know they’ll never respond to), considering the Department of Revenue don’t know if the owner is going through something OOC.

Time and time again you hear about a property or business being seized, and people complaining about it cause they’re going through something personal OOC that’s keeping them away from the game.

Instead of “Following the book”, show some humanity and reach out to those people instead, so they’re not shocked and later angry that they lost something they had spent hours and hours achieving.

I’ll be honest, this suggestion frustrates me because we as staff are not responsible for everyone’s wellbeing. If you reach out, we will gladly work with you. If you don’t? Thats on you, not us and we have an entire community to serve. 95% of folks are perfectly able to reach out 2 hours after a seizure note is placed on the property so there is no reason they cannot reach out before then.

Has nothing to do with having humanity, but thank you for the insinuation of otherwise.

I am with Shali on this, when I needed a mental health break, I took around a month off, I had a property loan active at the time, I reached out to admins and requested an LOA on my loan which they graciously granted. I understand people have things to deal with OOC but it’s still their job to help themselves.

From someone who does all that Revenue stuff, let me explain that we’ve given many properties / businesses back to individuals post-seizure. Ideally, as Shali said above, you let REO know and then we won’t so much as look in your direction.

Now, whilst I say this, this is NOT a guarantee that your property / business will be given back every time. Each request is looked at on an individual basis. But we always try to be fair where we can.

Each and every roleplaying server in existence is a constant revolving door of people leaving and joining. That’s how it is. And trust me, we wait a good while before even reaching out with just a warning to start. Following no contact a week later, we then look to seize, but still give you the opportunity weeks / a month after to get any and all items you may have had in there.

We can’t, sadly, leave these vacant places alone forever. Genuinely 90% of the seizures I’ve done in Ranch are for inactivity and a good 70% of those people I never hear from again post-seizure. Ranch is a big server and we need to make room for new people to grow.

Again, reach out with a ticket if something’s going down OOC and folks are more than happy to make exceptions. But if we don’t know about it, we can’t do anything to help.
