Proposal:
In the current state of medical RP within Monroe, criminals have few options when they find themselves injured/downed during a job. Whether wounded during a highway robbery or shot during a bank job and picked up by a posse member, it doesn’t make sense for those that are on the run to seek medical help from legimitate certified doctors who often travel in tandem with roaming law. To counteract this, I suggest creating the role of a black market doctor. These doctors would arrive to save the day whether out in the wilderness, at their own back alley office or at a pre-determined location.
Initiating Contact:
Accessing the services of a Black Market doctor would require making contact and building rapport with such an individual. These doctors would not hear cries for help, so the onus is on criminals contacting the doctor for help by telegram to let them know where they could be found, or go to a location they’re known to hang around. Another option would be to pre-emptively hire the doctor to be perpared somewhere in the event a posse member is injured or downed. These doctors would be sparing in both information and how they could be contacted to avoid being caught operating without a medical license.
Assessment in the Shadows:
Once contact is established, the Black Market doctor would conduct a clandestine assessment. If they don’t have a resident lair where they do business, meetings may occur in abandoned buildings, out in the wilderness or other inconspicuous locations. The doctor, listens to the patient’s ailments, asking probing questions and carefully noting symptoms as a normal doctor would.
Unconventional Treatments:
The Black Market doctor would employ their own brand of healing based on their level of training and would push their medicinal concotions on said clients. These concotions could be snake oil, legitimate healing or addictive drugs often requiring clients to return to them for “prescriptions”. I would suggest providing them with the ability to heal like normal doctors and the ability to create med kits on top of possible access to unregulated narcotics.
The Cost of Secrecy:
In the realm of black market healing, discretion is paramount. Patients pay not only for the healer’s services but also for the inherent risks involved. The fee structure is often fluid and negotiable, influenced by factors such as the severity of the ailment, the potential legal ramifications, and the level of discretion required. Payments may be made in cash, bonds, gold or trading in valuables. After all, these doctors operate out of the realm of legal medicine and would therefore not be on a payroll like their legal counterparts.
Risks and Rewards:
Engaging with a Black Market doctors is not without risks. The practitioner operates outside the boundaries of established medical regulations, exposing both themselves and their clients to legal consequences. Despite the dangers, those who seek their services may often believe the potential benefits outweigh the risks, particularly by those facing chronic illnesses or conditions deemed incurable by conventional medicine or not wanting to draw attention by going to a doctor in town.
A solitary profession:
The Black Market Doctor walks a solitary path, distancing themselves from traditional medical networks and colleagues. This isolation is not a choice but a necessity, driven by the clandestine nature of their profession. Cut off from the support and collaboration found in mainstream medicine, they carry the weight of their patients’ trust and the burden of their own secrets. As such, they often work alone or with a trusted apprentice. They may travel with a bodyguard, but they avoid becoming officially affiliated with any one gang, syndicate or crime family. In this way they remain impartial, and more importantly keep a varied clientele.

This is already a thing that needs to be discovered with RP. Private practices are very much like that.

this requires zero scripting, go roleplay!

Doctors shouldn’t just be roaming with law, that’s dangerous and sort of fail RP on both sides.
Second, this can 100% be RP’d out. Doctors can be corrupt, too. :)

I’m aware there is a lot that can be done already with the current system -if- you went through the medical program like a normal doctor, I was just suggesting an alternate medical class that 1) Does not receive the “help” call from locals/players making the onus on criminals to seek them out or make deals; 2) still have the ability to /heal without the requirement of going through the legal doctor profession first or becoming a native medicine healer and 3) Have the ability to make medkits. I like the idea of a “doctor” that is treated as a last resort because they’re seedy, untrustworthy, etc but they’re your only option.
Of course if the 3 things I mention above can already be done without having to go through legal IC channels to gain these abilities/recipes, etc then I’ll retract my suggestion as it’d be moot at this point.
