RPG-style levelling

With all the different activities in game, such as cooking, fishing, hunting, mining etc., I thought it would be cool to add an RPG-style levelling system to each of these tasks to add a sense of progression and make them feel less monotonous.

Each successful completion of the activity would grant you XP, and upon levelling up you might have (slightly) higher success rates or (slightly) increased odds of earning rare loot. Skill levels and XP progress would be announced when earned in the chat, and all levels/progress could be visible by typing in a chat command (similar to “/stats”).

Roleplay is obviously the most important thing in Ranch, but gameplay is a close second and I think this would make things far more enjoyable for those who find themselves grinding for large periods of time.

I’ve always been a fan of xp. I’ve always felt that if your character has a career in woodworking, farming, mining or any job really, they should improve over time. Yielding more quantity and higher quality.

If this system were to ever be implemented, I would hope that experience gained and levels would never be known by the player base. It should essentially be invisible. I also believe that it shouldn’t come easy and should come somewhat naturally over time through your labor. This way people who are mainly working their farms or mining will eventually be rewarded later down the road.

I would prefer to just see equal access to every skill we can have. Otherwise people XP grind like an MMO.

Way I see it is, it adds layers and depth to something that’s somewhat stale. People won’t be grinding xp because there should be no visible XP. Release it without having it in the patch notes. The rewards should be minimal and the levels should take time. And if people do end up grinding it then we’ll just have more people farming for a few extra bucks? People already grind. If your character is a farmer, you’lle see a small reward, if not, nothing changes… You should be able to see a slight difference in non-farmers and people who do it for a living.
